The Banking Association of Georgia is a Non-Entrepreneurial (Non-Commercial) Legal Entity which combines all banks and financial-crediting organizations acting in Georgia with the activity connected with the banking field of Georgia and which expresses interests of the banking community of Georgia.
The Banking Association of Georgia is established on the 20th of August, 2018 and currently combines 14 banking institutes. The Association cooperates with local and international representations, associations and authorities of the financial sector.
Targets and objections of the Banking Association of Georgia:
Protection of rights and interests of commercial banks acting in Georgia with state authorities, public organizations, international financial institutes and other entities.
Supporting of integration of the Georgian banking system into international banking relations and long-termed development of the banking activity; investigation of the banking experience, assistance to banks and their supporting, coordination of unifying of their resources for the purpose of implementation of significant programs.
Development of cooperation of Georgian commercial banks with non-resident banking financial centers.
Informing of the society on activity of commercial banks in Georgia and formation of positive civil concern in connection with the bank system.
Development of cooperation with representatives of different business sectors and banking organizations of other states.
By establishing of the Banking Association representatives of the banking sector agreed to make a dialogue of the bank sector more dynamic with the National Bank of Georgia, Government, international organizations and NGOs. Using mutual efforts to agree legislative, normative, reference, recommendations and action plants, to activate consultations and expressing and active protection of interests of the bank sector, by emphasizing of the role of banking sector in economic sustainability, employment, retraining, and social responsibility.
By cooperating with donor and partner organizations the Banking Association plans to make active steps in direction of educational and unified banking standardization. It makes focal steps in direction of implementation and facilitation of the image of adviser of state organizations. The Association deals with lobbying of crediting institutes in relation to the third parties. Negotiations are pending by the Parliament of Georgia on membership of lobbyists being in the process in a unified registry.
The Association conducts policy-making activity in entering of changes and amendments into the pending laws and legislative acts, by mobilizing of bank resources for their upgrading. Besides, it struggles in entering fo changes and amendments into the approved normative documents and their submitting to the Parliament of Georgia, Government, National Bank of Georgia and other governmental bodies.
Moreover, Association provides consultation and informational services to its member banks, organizes and participates in conferences, seminars and symposiums. It is joining and implementing several projects for developing and supporting Georgian banking system.
The Association plans to become a member in the European Bank Federation (https://www.ebf.eu/about-us/), which combines about 3000 member-banks. Besides, it plans to become an associated member of the International Bank Federation (http://www.ibfed.org.uk/), which is represented by leading banking institutes of the USA, Western Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan, China, India, Republic of South Africa and South Korea.
In October, 2018 Alexander Dzneladze was appointed as the President of the Association.
A rule of integration into the Association:
Any legal entity may become a member of the Banking Association of Georgia which, under the Georgian legislation, conducts a banking activity, has a relevant license and shares values and targets of the Association.
It should address to the President of the Banking Association of Georgia on the issue of membership in the Banking Association of Georgia based on the resolution made by the General Meeting of the Association.
Alexander Dzneladze - President of the Banking Association of Georgia
Alexander Dzneladze has 20 years of experience in Banking. Prior to being elected as a President of the Association, Alexander held the position of General Director at JSC "Silk Road Bank" for four years (2015 - 03, 2019). At the same bank he held the various positions: Credit and Investment Projects Manager (2006-2007), Head of Corporate Business Department (2007-2010) and Chief Commercial Officer (2010-2015).
Alexander worked at the JSC “Bank of Georgia” and JSC "Intellect Bank" in the position of Micro Credit Manager, Corporate Credit Manager, Head of Credit Department and Head of Credit and Investment Projects Department in the early years.
Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from the Tbilisi State University and Master's Diploma from Georgian Technical University. He has completed Training of Trainers Course from Banking-Finance Academy, under the USAID-funded SME Support Project.
Alexander speaks fluently English and Russian. Married, has a son.

Giorgi Bagrationi - Executive Director
He works in the Association since 2006. In Early years he held the positions of Project Manager (2006-2012) and Secretary General (2012-2018).
Giorgi also leads as the Director Ltd “Registry +”, Banking Association’s daughter company offering the banks the authorized services in relation to the Public Registry National Agency. Giorgi was an adviser to the Director of the United Clearing Center.
Giorgi holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economic Informatics from Tbilisi Technical University and Master's Degree in Computing Engineering.
Giorgi speaks fluently English and Russian. He is married, has 2 son.
David Rusia - Analytical Director
He joined the Association in December 2018. David has 20 years of experience in Banking and Finance. David worked in JSC "Bank of Georgia" as a long-term credit risk analyst and Head of the Implementation of Real Estate Financing Program (1999-2000). In 2000-2002 worked IFC subcontractor Shorebank Advisory Services as a credit advisor for the RE financing program.
During the various years he served as a Deputy Credit Director at JSC "Bank Republic" (2002-2005); Head of SME Lending Department (2005-2006) and Deputy Credit Director (2006-2008) at JSC “Bank Cartu”; Head of the Corporate Credit Department (2008-2010) and Credit Analysis Department (2010-2014) at JSC "Halyk Bank of Georgia"; First deputy Director General at JSC "Caucasus Development Bank - Georgia" (2014-2016).
From May, 2019 he was appointed as an independent member of the Supervisory Board of the Deposit Insurance Agency.
David holds Master's Degree in Banking from Tbilisi State University.
He speaks fluently English and Russian. He is married, has a daughter.
